Santiago com 5 milhões de habitantes na região metropolitana, é a capital do Chile, este país que é o mais longo e estreito do mundo, e que se estende entre os Andes   e o Oceano Pacífico. Foi fundada pelos espanhóis no século XVI, e se expandiu no entorno da Plaza de Armas, como pode ser observado até hoje no Centro Histórico.

1. CHEGANDO NO AEROPORTO:
Se você não possuir pesos chilenos (186 pesos chilenos=1 real) troque o suficiente para pequenas despesas, pois a cotação de aeroporto é  baixa, mas como muitos lugares só aceitam pagamento com moeda local (efectivo), não fique sem. Para chegar até seu destino vá de ônibus, compre passagem na  CENTROPUERTO dentro do aeroporto, os ônibus com bagageiros ficam em frente  e saem a cada 10 minutos com várias paradas até o centro da cidade, operando das 6h até 23:30h. Evite táxis de rua, além de caros têm muitas reclamações, já o UBER no aplicativo e metrô funcionam bem. Você desembarcou numa cidade grande, então, cuidado com seus pertences.

HOTEL PLAZA SAN FRANCISCO (Av. Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins, 816).

2. O QUE VER:
Andando faça o percurso no Centro Histórico, começando pela PLAZA DE ARMAS, onde ficam a CATEDRAL e o MUSEO HISTÓRICO NACIONAL, o PALACIO DEL GOBIERNO LA MONEDA, o TEATRO MUNICIPAL, a  BIBLIOTECA NACIONAL, e a IGLESIA SAN FRANCISCO, construída em 1572, é a igreja mais antiga de Santiago, e está localizada ao lado do Hotel Plaza San Francisco.

3. O QUE FAZER:
Você vai cruzar por muitos parques espalhados, sempre com muitas pessoas relaxando, uma vez que no verão é muito calor, e o sol só se põe às 21h. No caminho da Av. Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins no charmoso  bairro LASTARRIA, visite o MUSEU DE BELAS ARTES,  e o CENTRO CULTURAL GAM, ande até a graciosa rua José Vitorino Lastarria, com muitos restaurantes, bares, galerias de arte, e muitos artistas de rua. No tradicional bairro residencial da PROVIDENCIA, o PATIO BELLAVISTA (esquina das ruas Pio Uno e Bellavista), com aconchegantes cafés, restaurantes, e muitas lojinhas bacanas, é passeio obrigatório.

4. ONDE COMER:
CHIPE LIBRE (Rua José Vitorino Lastarria, 282).
Neste ambiente bacana, frequentado por locais, prove o famoso drink chileno Piscosauer, com deliciosos petiscos.

5. ONDE COMPRAR:
- COSTANERA CENTER (Av.Andrés Bello, 2425).
É o maior e mais icônico shopping do Chile, com mais de 300 lojas de marcas famosas como a H&M, também oferece livro de cupons de descontos para turistas estrangeiros, peça o seu no primeiro andar. No observatório Sky Costanera, no alto da torre de 62 andares, a maior da América Latina, você vai ter uma visão de 360 graus de Santiago. Só vale pagar para subir, se o tempo estiver bom.

-EASTON OUTLET (Pres. Eduardo Frei Montalva, 9709 - Quilicura). Inspirado no estilo dos Estados Unidos, as mais de 40 lojas de marcas como Nike entre outras,  com ótimos preços, viraram destino preferido de compras dos chilenos e turistas. Para chegar em Quilicura, que é afastado, quando for ao Costanera, pegue o UBER para ir até lá, sai bem em conta. Evite ir em horário de trânsito pesado.

Santiago with 5 million inhabitants in the metropolitan region is  the capital of Chile, the longest and thinest country in the world, which runs from the Andes to the Pacific.
As with all cities founded by the Spaniards in the 16th century, Santiago was laid around the Plaza de Armas (Central Square), as a grid plan which can still be seen today in the downtown's Historical Center.
Take a note of the following tips, to be enchanted in this cultural historical city, cheered with the tasty Chilean's wine:

1. ARRIVING IN THE AIRPORT:
If you don't have the country currency, Chilean's peso, (600 pesos=1U$), change a little amount for little expenses in the airport, because some locals accept only the local currency (efectivo).
To get in your destination the buses are cheaper and safe. Buy your ticket in the CENTROPUERTO's airport booth, the buses leaving each 10 minutes, with many stops until the city's downtown, working from 6am to 11:30pm. Avoid street cabs, besides so expensive there are many complaints about it. UBER and subway work well. You arrived in a big city, be careful with your belongs.

2. WHERE TO STAY:
PLAZA SAN FRANCISCO HOTEL (Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Ave., 816). Located in the heart of Santiago, in the Historical Center, the hotel offers very good  service, and the delicious  breakfast is included, plus the culinary excellence from the award-winning Restaurant Bristol.

3. WHAT TO SEE:
Make a tour in the buildings of the Historical Center, beginning at the "Plaza de Armas" where are the "Cathedral" and the "National Historical Museum"; the "Government Palace La Moneda", the "Santiago Municipal Theater",  oldest cultural center built in the neoclassical style; the "Biblioteca Nacional" (National Library), and the "Saint  Francisco Church" (Iglesia San Francisco), built in 1572 is the oldest church in Santiago, located beside the Plaza San Francisco Hotel.

4. WHAT TO DO:
You'll cross many parks spread by the city with lots of people relaxing, specially in the summer with hot temperatures and a sunset around  9pm. In the way of the Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Ave., you'll arrive in the LASTARRIA neighbor, housing the "Museo de Belas Artes" e o "Centro Cultural GAM", also walking through the  enchanted Jose Vitorino Lastarria Street, with many restaurants, cafes and street artists. In  PROVIDENCIA, the most traditional residence borough of Santiago, don't miss "Patio Bellavista" (in the corner of Pio Uno and Bellavista streets), a gorgeous place with many restaurants, cozy cafes and cute stores.

5. WHERE TO EAT:
CHIPE LIBRE (Jose Vitorino Lastarria Street, 282). In a cool place, with lots of local people, try the famous Chilean's drink "Piscosauer", also there serves delicious food and snacks.

6. WHERE TO BUY:
-COSTANERA CENTER  (Andrés Bello Ave., 2425, Providencia). Is the biggest and iconic mall due to its variety of famous international brands, like H&M store among others 300 shops distributed in 6 floors. Ask for the "On Tour" book of discount, for foreign tourists only. The "Sky Costanera" lookout point in the tower's 62th floor, is the highest in Latin America with a 360-degree view of Santiago.
Pay to climb the tower, with a good weather only.
Open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm.
-EASTON OUTLET (Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva, 9709 Quilicura). Similar to the American's outlets, is a leading destination for Chileans and tourists,  with more than 40 stores, including Nike among others famous brands. To arrive in Quilicura, the outskirts of Santiago, is cheaper and faster taking an UBER from Costanera Mall. Avoid to go there in the rush hours. Open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm.
