Em Teresópolis, quem diria, nas terras de Tereza Cristina pois o nome da bela cidade na região serrana do Rio de Janeiro foi em homenagem a Imperatriz brasileira, e lá têm uma vila que parece a Vila Sankt Gallen na Suiça que dizem ser destino imperdivel, e a daqui foi feita para quem aprecia cerveja ou não, mas também para quem gosta de desfrutar a beleza das montanhas que combina perfeitamente com a nossa estação de inverno, a 910 metros de altura cercada pela Mata Atlântica, Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos e Dedo de Deus.

Distante 90km do Rio, pegue a BR 040, e depois a BR 116 sentido Teresópolis até chegar na Rua Augusto do Amaral Peixoto, 166,  onde está a Vila Sankt Gallen, com estacionamento na rua em frente.

2. O QUE FAZER:
Circule pela bela vila que têm lojinhas, restaurantes, cervejarias e uma graciosa capela.

3. ONDE COMER:
No momento o único em funcionamento respeitando todas as normas exigidas pela OMS é o HARLEKIN PUB, espaço amplo com mesinhas no jardim servindo a impecável  gastronomia alemã com o ótimo atendimento do Gustavo, e não deixe de provar a sobremesa Taça Tirolesa para comer rezando e acreditando que não vai engordar 1 grama, mas também têm a CASA DE CERVEJAS THERESOPOLIS, o ABADIA RESTAURANTE servindo fondue e raclette que combinam muito bem com o friozinho da serra, o BIERGARTEN, e o delicioso Café KAFFE HAUS ao ar livre, já abertos a capela e a loja de souvenir para levar sua cerveja para casa.

Teresópolis city got this name in honor of the Brazilian Empress Tereza Cristina, located in a beautiful countryside of Rio de Janeiro, with 910 meters high, and surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and  Serra dos Órgãos National Park, there is a village looking like the Sankt Gallen Village in the Switzerland saying that is an unmissable destination, and this one here was made for the ones that like beer or not, but also for the people that enjoy the mountains.
Take a note of these tips to enjoy this beauty village serving an excellent German gastronomy, and to breath a fresh air during this endless pandemic:

1. HOW TO ARRIVE:
90km far from Rio take the BR 040 and next the BR 116, driving up to the 166, Augusto do Amaral Peixoto street arriving in the Vila Sankt Gallen, parking on the street in front of the place.

2. WHAT TO DO:
Strolling by the village browsing the little stores, restaurants, breweries and the gracious chapel.

3. WHERE TO EAT:
The only one already opened following all the OMS requirements is the HARLEKIN PUB, a wide space with little tables in the garden serving German gastronomy, good service by Gustavo, and don't miss the very good Taça Tirolesa dessert, also has the
THERESOPOLIS BEER HOUSE, ABADIA RESTAURANT serving  fondue and raclette perfect for the winter season, BIERGARTEN, and the delicious KAFFE HAUS Cafe, the chapel and the souvenirs store to take beer home are working.

Da Vargem Grande a Vargem Pequena, RJ! Muita diversão para adultos e crianças! (From Vargem Grande to Vargem Pequena, RJ, Brazil! Lots of fun for the adults and kids!).

Continuando dentro da pandemia que ainda não acabou, seguimos viajando pelos nossos arredores de natureza, e fomos para Vargem Grande, um gracioso bairro bucólico na zona oeste do
Rio de Janeiro, que mais parece uma cidadezinha do interior.
Anote estas dicas e vá respirar ar puro e caminhar pelas trilhas, onde têm montanhas, rios, cachoeiras, e depois se deliciar com a gastronomia impecável:

1. COMO CHEGAR:
Distante 42km de Copacabana via Barra da Tijuca, pegando a Estrada dos Bandeirantes até  chegar na Estrada Mucuiba onde o bairro está abraçado ao Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca, uma reserva de 12.500 hectares com exuberante fauna e flora da Mata Atlântica.

2. O QUE FAZER:
Pode fazer trilhas pelo parque, se não conhece bem a área, estacione o carro no final da Estrada Mucuiba, dali pode fazer uma trilha leve até a cachoeira, também têm  passeios a cavalo com instrutor, nesta região que têm o Haras Baruca, Estrada Mucuiba, 500, bacana para adultos e crianças.

3. O QUE VER:
Na Estrada Mucuiba têm a pequena capela Nossa Senhora da Conceição, e acessando pela Estrada dos Bandeirantes onde têm uma pequena colina, mas já em Vargem Pequena fica a histórica Capela de Nossa Senhora de Montserrat construída em 1732 que abriga desde 1880 a imagem desta santa que estava em uma capela   vizinha que foi destruída por um vendaval.

4. ONDE COMER:
O bairro têm tradição de gastronomia impecável para todos os gostos e bolsos, com vários restaurantes já funcionando e seguindo as regras impostas pelo "novo normal", em belas áreas abertas cercadas de muiito verde, tudo perfeito para a época que estamos vivendo, se for louco por camarão, mas com outros pratos no cardápio, o destino certo é o bar TÔ NA BOA, preferido dos moradores, que dizem não existir pastel e risoto de camarão melhores que os que são servidos pela Gisele neta da Dona Astrogilda, famosa parteira e matriarca da Comunidade Quilombola que leva o seu nome e está ali há mais de 200 anos,  num ambiente simples mas acolhedor com mesas montadas encima de terra batida; e se gostar de feijoada vá para a CASA DA FEIJOADA 1910, Estrada Mucuiba,  919, que só abre aos domingos e também pode levar seu bichinho de estimação; e para os apaixonados por carne o DOM PASCUAL, misto de pousada e restaurante, Estrada do Sacarrão, 867, o proprietário uruguaio serve costela gaúcha acompanhada de arroz carreteiro; já para os  amantes de comida orgânica e italiana o bistrô CASA TRÊS, Estrada do Sacarrão, 867 é a pedida.

Da Vargem Grande a Vargem Pequena! Diversão certa para toda a família!

Continuing our endless pandemic, we keep travelling inside our nature surroundings only, going  to the bucolic quarter of Vargem Grande in the Rio de Janeiro west side that looks like a countryside city.
Take a note of these tips to breath fresh air walking on the trails with mountains, rivers waterfalls, and  enjoying also the local spotless gastronomy:

1. HOW TO ARRIVE:
42km far from Copacabana via Barra da Tijuca quarter, taking the Estrada dos Bandeirantes road arriving on the Estrada Mucuiba road, where Vargem Grande is attached with the Pedra Branca State Park, a 12.500 hectares reserve with an Atlântic Forest magnificent flora and fauna.

2. WHAT TO DO:
Walk on the park trails, but if you don't know the area well parking the car on the end of the Estrada Mucuiba road, walking up to the waterfall, there is also guide for horse rides in this region that houses the Baruca Studs perfect for adults an kids. 

3. WHAT TO SEE:
On the Estrada Mucuiba road there is the Our Lady of Conceição little chapel, and accessing by the Estrada do Bandeirantes road already in Vargem Pequena there is a small hill housing the beautiful Our Lady of Montserrat Church built in 1732, but since  1880 keeps this saint image that was in a neighbor church destroyed by a gale.

4. WHERE TO EAT:
This neighborhood houses many restaurants in an opened green area serving a spotless gastronomy for all tastes and budgets, if you're crazy for shrimps go to the TÔ NA BOA bar that the locals saying there are the best "pastel" and "risoto" shrimp dishes prepared by Gisele, the granddaughter of the Dona Astrogilda the Quilombola Community founder, it is a simple cosy place with the tables over a non-paved ground; if you like "feijoada" go to the CASA DA FEIJOADA 1910, open on Sundays only; and for the meat lovers the Don Pascual a mix of bed and breakfast and restaurant serves "gaúcha ribs" sided with "carreteiro" rice; and for the vegan and Italian food fans the CASA TRÊS bistrô is the right destination.

Jardim Botânico, RJ! Respirando ar puro dentro do "novo normal"! (Botanical Garden, RJ, Brazil! Breathing a fresh air inside of the "new normal"!).

Um dos lugares mais incríveis da Cidade Maravilhosa é o Jardim Botânico, um espaço de exuberante riqueza natural que foi fundado em 1808 por Dom João para ser uma Fábrica de Explosivos e um jardim de plantas de diferentes partes do mundo.
Anote estas dicas e vá se perder nestes 54 hectares de beleza incomparável da fauna e flora da Mata Atlåntica, considerado uma reserva da biosfera da UNESCO:

1. COMO CHEGAR:
Localizado próximo ao bairro da Gávea e a Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, pode-se chegar ao local de ônibus, metrô, bicicleta ou carro com estacionamento rotativo na Praça Santos Dumont, lembrando que o parque reabriu dia 9 de julho, 2020, como ainda estamos dentro da pandemia, o acesso só pode ser por agendamento prévio no site, e só entrará seguindo todas as exigências governamentais requeridas pelo nosso "novo normal". Ingresso R$15,00.

2. O QUE VER:
Uma das tantas atrações imperdíveis no parque é a árvore nativa da Mata Atlåntica "pau mulato", que em meados de agosto o tronco adquire uma cor bronze formando um belo cenário, também o caminho das "Palmeiras Imperiais", o Bromeliário, o lago com Vitória-Regia, o corredor da bela flor Esponja-de-Ouro, e não deixe de circular pelo encantador Jardim Japonês, criado em 1935, repleto de bonsais, cerejeiras, e um belo lago com carpas e pedras simbolizando a longevidade.

3. ONDE COMER:
Dentro do Jardim Botânico têm o ótimo Café e Restaurante servindo deliciosas refeições ao ar livre, também têm bons restaurantes já abertos no.entorno da Praça Santos Dumont.

One of the most Wonderful City's incredible places is the Botanical Garden, a natural amazing space that was founded in 1808 by Dom João to be a Gunpowder Factory, and a garden growing plants of other parts of the world.
Take a note of these tips and go there to be lost in its 54 hectares of an incomparable natural beauty considered a biosphere reserve by UNESCO:

1. HOW TO ARRIVE:
Located next to the Gávea's quarter and the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon should be accessed by bus, subway, byke or car with a paid public parking around the Santos Dumont Square, remind that the Botanical Garden was opened last July, 9th, 2020, and because we still inside of a pandemic, the admittance is by previous appointment only, and must following all the Brazilian government requires for the "new normal".

2. WHAT TO SEE:
The "Pau Mulato" an Atlântic Forest native tree that on the middle of August the tree trunk gets a bronze color making a beautiful scenery, also the Imperial Palm Trees path, the Bromeliad Greenhouse, the Victoria Regia lake, the beautiful corridor of the esponja-de-ouro  (gold esponje) flowers, and don't miss strolling by the enchanted Japonese Garden full of bonsai, cherry trees, and a gorgeous lake plenty of carp fishes, and stones symbolizing the longevity.

3. WHERE TO EAT:
Inside of the Botanical Garden has a very good Restaurant and Cafe serving delicious meals on open air tables, also around the Santos Dumont Square has good restaurants already opened.

Nogueira, Petrópolis, RJ! Lugarzinho aconchegante! (Nogueira, RJ, Brazil! A lovely little place!).

Nogueira é mais um dos lindos bairros de Petrópolis na região serrana do Rio de Janeiro, distante 85km, é um destino perfeito para um bate e volta respirando o ar puro das montanhas se sentindo num lugarzinho do interior.
Anote estas dicas para conhecer este gracioso destino, que era servido pela Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina, construída em 1908:

1. COMO CHEGAR:
Saindo do Rio pela BR-040, vá por este belo caminho apreciando os coloridos tapetes artesanais vendidos na estrada, e não deixe de parar na Casa do Alemão para degustar um cafezinho com os famosos croquetes, na direção de Itaipava entre a direita na Estrada União e Indústria e logo verá placas para Nogueira.

2. O QUE FAZER:
Caminhe ou pedale pelo Lago Nogueira, rodeado por uma bela vegetação da Mata Atlåntica e muitos patinhos, vá até a pracinha onde está a locomotiva A BARONEZA II, que foi restaurada em 2015.

3. ONDE COMER:
Ao redor da pracinha deliciosos restaurantes como o Gengibre com Limão, servindo comida caseira nas mesas da calçada, têm a convidativa padaria Pão & Pão com um bar bacana, e se quiser levar para casa, têm mercadinho com vegetais orgânicos.

Nogueira! Lugarzinho encantador!

Nogueira is one more Petrópolis pretty neighborhood in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, a perfect place for one day tour to breath the mountains fresh air.
Take a note of these tips to enjoy this gorgeous destination, 85km far from Rio, which in the past was attended by the Leopoldina Railroad, built in 1908:

1. HOW TO ARRIVE:
Leaving Rio take the BR-O40 appreciating the vendors of the colorful craft rugs, and don't miss to stop at the delicious Casa do Alemão Restaurant, in the direction of Itaipava turn to the right to the União Indústria Road and soon you'll see Nogueira sights.

2. WHAT TO DO:
Strolling or riding a bike on the Nogueira Lake surrounded by the beautiful Atlântic Forest vegetation and stop to admire the  cute ducks, go to the little square to see "A BARONEZA II" old train, that was renewed in 2015.

3. WHERE TO EAT:
Surrounding the little square delicious restaurants like Gengibte com Limão (Ginger and Lemon) serving homemade food on its sidewalk tables, also the inviting Pão & Pão bakery with a cool bar, and a deli selling organic vegetables.
