Palácio Quitandinha, RJ! O glamour da nossa era dos cassinos! (Quitandinha Palace, RJ! The Brazilian casino glamor age!).

O magnífico Palácio Quitandinha na bela região serrana de Petrópolis, RJ, foi construído em 1944 para ser o maior Hotel Cassino da América Latina, mas 2 anos depois teve o seu glamour de cassino interrompido quando os jogos de azar foram proibidos no Brasil, este é o único palácio reconhecido no país e foi palco de famosos da época como "A Pequena Notável" Carmen Miranda (1909-1955).
Anote estas dicas para passar o dia nesta bela construção que têm no seu interior a arquitetura rococó hollywoodiana  preservando muita história:

1. COMO CHEGAR:
Distante 66km do Rio pela BR-040 até a serra de Petrópolis.

2. O QUE VER NO PALÁCIO:
- O LAGO:
Construído em frente ao palácio no formato do Mapa do Brasil, com 18.000 metros quadrados revestido com lajotas, que pasnem, no início foi uma praia artificial com toneladas de areia vindas da Praia de Copacabana, a bela torre do farol que está a esquerda, assinala a posição da Ilha de Marajó, no estado do Pará.
- HALL DE ENTRADA:
Amplo e muito bonito, no corredor que segue uma imensa gaiola.
- A PISCINA:
No interior do palácio, enorme e funda era com água aquecida, mas agora está vazia.
- CAFÉ CONCERTO:
Decorado com a flora nacional e um jogo de espelhos, é conhecido como a "Boate".
- TEATRO:
Belíssimo com capacidade para 1.100 pessoas, sob a direção do SESC Rio desde 2007, sempre exibindo shows.

3. ONDE COMER:
Saindo do palácio à direita, na Av. Getúlio Vargas, 580, loja 3, está o delicioso restaurante a peso, ROTA GOURMET.

4. QUANDO VISITAR:
Terça a domingo e feriados das 9:30h às 17h. R$10,00.

The magnificent Quitandinha Palace, Petrópolis, was built in 1944 to be the largest Latin America Casino Hotel, but 2 years later its glamor was interrupted by the Brazilian government  forbidden gambles law, it still the only recognized palace in the country, and in that time was stage for famous artists as the "Brazilian Bombshell" Carmen Miranda (1909-1955).
Take a note of these tips to spend a day inside of that gorgeous and historical Hollywood rococo architecture:

1. HOW TO ARRIVE:
Distant 66km from Rio, driving by the BR-040 up to the beautiful Petrópolis countryside.

2. WHAT TO SEE:
- THE LAKE:
Built in front of the palace roughly as a Brazil map, measuring 18.000 square meters lined with flagstones, believe it or not, in the begining was an artificial beach having its shore covered with tons of the Copacabana sands, and the lighthouse tower on the left marks on the lake-map the position of the Marajó Island in the state of Pará.
- THE HALL:
Wide and well decorated, on the corridor a huge cage.
- THE SWIMMING POOL:
A very big and deep heated pool, located inside of the palace, but now is empty.
- THE CONCERT CAFÉ:
Adorned with the national flora and a set of mirrors, knowing as the Nightclub.
- THE THEATER:
Awesome place housing 1.100 seats, under the SESC Rio direction always presenting many shows since 2007.

3. WHERE TO EAT:
Leaving the palace to the right side take the  Getúlio Vargas Ave.,  to the excellent ROTA GOURMET restaurant, serving delicious food by weight.

4. WHEN TO VISIT:
Tuesday to Sunday and Holidays from 9:30h to 5pm. Tickets R$10,00 Reais.
